Beautiful Stratford-upon-Avon is famous as the birthplace of perhaps the world’s most famous author, William Shakespeare. A historic market town, Stratford still has many buildings left standing that Shakespeare himself would recognise. Including the Tudor half timbered house that he grew up in.
Stratford is home to the world famous Royal Shakespeare Company, who have three theatres in the town – and who perform a wide selection of plays (both historical and contemporary). It also boasts a number of fascinating museums including The Shakespeare Centre, his wife’s cottage, his mother’s farm and Nash’s House (an exceptionally well preserved Tudor house, similar to Shakespeare’s final residence).
